Building Rx | 2024 in Review

Happy New Year! We hope that you had a nice holiday season and that 2024 was a year of successes, new connections, and positive experiences for you like it was for Building Rx!

Our President will be attending the Healthcare Project Delivery Conference in February and the Healthcare Project Delivery Conference in March and would love to meet up with you if you’ll be there as well. Let us know and we'll be happy to set up a connection!

In the meantime, here's an update on what we’ve accomplished and learned in the last year.

Building Rx in 2024 | Our Year in Review

SENECA HEALTHCARE DISTRICT Replacement Critical Access Hospital and Skilled Nursing Facility.

As the Owner’s Representative & Construction Manager and having been involved since project inception for the Seneca District Hospital Replacement Facility, it’s been thrilling for Building Rx see construction begin on the new hospital in Chester, California. Guiding the project team through design, permitting, pre-construction and funding has been challenging but rewarding, and we’ve learned a lot along the way that we are excited to apply to other projects in the future. We kicked off construction with a team-building event in October, bringing together architects, contractors, planners, inspectors, and designers for a day of personal and team growth led by Working Genius expert, Symphoneo Consulting. Each time we see a full project team take shape and physical work begin, we can’t express the excitement we feel seeing a group of diversely qualified people working toward a common goal.

RURAL HEALTHCARE Company Focus

Our project with the Seneca Healthcare District has solidified our desire to continue to work in rural healthcare, bringing the experience we’re gaining in Chester to other rural California hospitals facing similar challenges as they modernize and grow to better meet the needs of their communities.

AFFORDABLE HOUSING Company Focus

We’re also currently involved as the Construction Manager on two Affordable Housing Projects, Clara Gardens, with Resources for Community Development (RCD), and Merriment Village, a Habitat for Humanity Project with Thurmond Consulting and Hilbers Inc as the GC. As members of the Sacramento Housing Alliance and Housing California, we continue to make connections in the Affordable Housing realm and hope to become more involved in doing our part to make positive changes where we are able.

GIVING BACK

Always focused on the impact we can have on our communities, our President / CEO Donna Huntingdale is serving on the Executive Board of The Alliance for Defending the Cause of Kids and Families and in that role, was a part of several efforts in 2024 including involvement on the team that planned and hosting the board retreat and facilitating NAWIC’s member involvement with The Alliance’s holiday toy drive.

As the Professional Development and Education Co-Chair for the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), Sacramento Chapter, Donna was involved in bringing monthly programs to her fellow chapter members. Her favorites included a negotiation training co-hosted by the Sacramento Regional Builders Exchange (SRBX), bringing insight and skills to attendees on implementing negotiation mindset and practice, and developing a two-part panel discussion entitled Bridging the Great Divide Between Office and Field, an interactive conversation with construction community members aiming to develop a common understanding of all the important roles within a project and to brainstorm potential actions to value and support each other.

In 2024, Building Rx was also proud to sponsor NAWIC Sacramento, the SRBX/CIEF Women in Construction Conference, and the Sacramento Housing Alliance Annual Summit.

Project Coordinator, Lisa, kept busy outside of her role with Building Rx as well, serving as the fundraising chairman of her local Out of the Darkness Walk, helping to raise over $35,000 in 2024 for the American Society for Suicide Prevention.

LOOKING AHEAD to exciting opportunities in 2025

Building Rx has several exciting opportunities on the horizon for 2025, including an upcoming project with Soil Born Farms in Sacramento, CA, along with Ellis Architects, bringing an Animal Barn and site improvements to the facility to serve our community.  Several Affordable Housing opportunities are finalizing, and as always, we stay open to additional ways we can use our Program/Project/Construction Management experience to serve projects in both the Healthcare and Affordable Housing sectors, always looking for ways to make an impact in our communities.

COMPANY GROWTH

And last but certainly not least, Building Rx is growing! Daniel Bremerman joined our team in October as a Construction Manager, and we are excitedly anticipating hiring another employee in the next few months.

Feel free to give me a call or send us an email anytime if there's anything Building Rx can do to assist you in the coming year.

Wishing you growth, achievement, and contentment in 2025!
